岡山県新見市の伝統工芸である神代和紙は1200年もの歴史の中で和歌や恋文など人を想う時間に寄り添ってきました。
その時の長さは、永遠とも感じられます。

もちろん今では手紙や想いをしたためる機会は減りましたがこの神代和紙が担ってきた「人の想いに寄り添う」という役割は今も続きます。

Kojiro-Washi, a traditional craft from Niimi City in Okayama Prefecture, has been part of moments of thought and feeling for people—like in waka poems and love letters—for over 1,200 years.The length of that time can even feel eternal.

Of course, nowadays we don’t write letters or express our feelings as often, but the role that Kojiro-Washi has played—being close to people’s thoughts and emotions—continues even today.

Since inheriting the techniques from my mentor, Machiko Chuta, I've spent 15 years preserving traditional skills alongside my mentor and peers. Kamiyo washi values the delicate beauty created by the warmth of the craftsman's hands and the blessings of nature. We're sharing this pleasantly textured paper, filled with the dedication of our artisans, with you.

【神代和紙とは】

　神代和紙は、岡山県新見市の山間部、神代で作られる伝統工芸品です。平安時代から続くとされ、古くは京都の東寺へ送られていたという文献もあります。天然の植物からできており、水が冷たく原料が痛まない冬に、職人たちの手によって一枚一枚丁寧に漉かれます。

伝統の技と現代の感性が織りなす、神代和紙の独特の質感。日常の一部として、心地よい肌触りと豊かな風合いを体験してみませんか。

Kojiro washi is a traditional craft made in Kojiro, a mountainous area in Niimi City, Okayama Prefecture. It is said to date back to the Heian period, and there are historical records indicating that it used to be sent to Toji Temple in Kyoto long ago. Made from natural plants, the paper is carefully hand-crafted sheet by sheet by artisans during the winter, when the water is cold and the raw materials won’t be damaged.

With its unique texture created by the combination of traditional techniques and modern sensibilities, Kojiro washi offers a pleasant touch and rich feel. Why not try experiencing it as a part of your everyday life?
